Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the School

Acorn Park is a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School and Residential home within the Acorn Care and Education and NFA Group, the UK’s Largest, Independent Children’s services group.  The School specialises in communication and learning challenges associated with Autism.

The School and Homes are within a private, 30 acre Estate situated within Norfolk’s picturesque and tranquil countryside, close to the town of Banham.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each child’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide the young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable and understanding.

About the Role

The post holder will:

  • Secure a high quality of teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the curriculum leaders, and school leaders.
  • Teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum.
  • In consultation with the Head of School undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum.

 

Who we are looking for

 

Are you a passionate and organised KS1 teacher with early year experience? Can you adjust your teaching style to benefit the development of all your students?

The school is looking for someone with excellent classroom management, who teaches with an enthusiastic and nurturing approach and has high expectations of learning.

In return, the KS1 teacher will have the opportunity to work with a fantastic team in a welcoming environment.

Applicants must:

  • Be a good (with desire to be outstanding) classroom practitioner who has high expectations of self and others and is passionate about encouraging all pupils to achieve success. 
  • Be ambitious to support and extend the learning opportunities for all of the pupils. 
  • Have a commitment to working in partnership with the Therapy team: Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, other staff, parents and the community to reduce the barriers to learning that children and young people with autism face and promote excellent learning opportunities for all. 
  • Have drive, enthusiasm and a clear vision for achieving educational excellence for children with autism. 
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the EYFS/primary curriculum. 
  • Have strong interpersonal and leadership skills. 
  • Be able to contribute to the wider curriculum of the school through sports, arts, music, drama and other enrichment activities.
  • A real desire to make a positive difference to the pupils you work with.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Formal Tertiary qualification in Teaching / Education (either undergraduate degree in education or undergraduate degree +
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Work as a team member and identify opportunities for working with colleagues and sharing the development of practice
  • Play a key role in development of SEN provision within Acorn Park School
  • To Enable access to learning and social opportunities for pupils with SEN through delivery of teaching, support, families and the young person
  • To work with Key Partners in Acorn Parks Schools Therapy service
