Adult Support Worker
Salary: £21,149 – £22,280 (dependent on experience and qualification level)
Hours: Full time, as per rota
We’re looking for Adult Support Workers to join our team. No matter your experience, whether this be in catering, hospitality, retail or care, we have the role for you! Someone who is motivated by helping others, patient and resilient would be ideal.
About the school
Underley Garden School is an Ofsted Outstanding School and outstanding children’s and adults home. Our adults have a range of complex needs associated with autism and learning disabilities, including complex communication, sensory and behavioural needs associated with their disabilities.

There are three Adult homes, which are part of Underley- one in Kirkby Lonsdale, one in Lindale, one in Grange-over-Sands. At times, you may be required to work across all three sites. However, you will be predominantly based in Lindale for this role.
Greenacres is a home for young adults with complex needs, who require close supervision and support from staff, but can complete some tasks independently or with little staff support. The young adults here enjoy having access to the local community, taking part in lots of activities and trips out.

About the Role:

From day one, we will train and support you, ultimately developing you into a care professional.
As an Adult Support Worker, you will work shifts and will be required to attend 2 additional monthly training sessions.
During your day, you will be working with the adults within their day-to-day lives; Cook with them, play games and do activities, help them within their day and night routines and assist with the personal care and emotional support needs the Adults may have. A key responsibility is to Safeguard all who are in our care and ensure they are safe and healthy.
Other duties include liaising with other staff, working to and regularity reviewing agreed care plans and paperwork in place and keeping the home clean and tidy.
This is a challenging and physically demanding job but highly rewarding. All of our Adults have complex needs associated with autism, communication and learning disabilities. They can present with complex communication needs and challenging behaviour associated with their disability. You will have extensive training in how to support our young people positively and how to intervene and deescalate situations as required.
Who we need?
This role doesn’t require any experience, just an individual who is friendly, compassionate, resilient, and calm under pressure and who has the desire to learn and work with adults with complex needs.
In return, we will provide you with full training. This includes a week induction at the start of employment covering various training courses including Team Teach, Autism awareness, Safeguarding and Medication awareness.
We also pay for and support you in obtaining a Level 3 Health and Social care qualification, if you are successful; you will be enrolled after your probation and will need to complete it within a year and a half.
