Support For Parents

As a Parent Liaison Officer I have extensive knowledge in the field of Autism as well as the services and programmes that we offer through Acorn Care and Education. I operate in close partnership with our current and prospective parents, Local Authorities, a network of Parent support groups as well as all Acorn schools and residential settings.

My knowledge and experience comes from years of teaching, both in special and mainstream settings from Nursery age through to Primary and Secondary age. I have done work in care provisions specialising in Autism, transition work as well as advising and setting up home based educational programmes.

As Parent Liaison Officer I can offer you support and guidance on:

Acorn Care and Education are delighted to announce the appointment of Tamsin (Tammy) Blythe as Principal at Underley Hall School. Tamsin’s career has almost exclusively been spent in BESD residential schools , she has been in senior leadership posts in this sector for nine years, the last five of which have been as Head Teacher of a now very successful Primary and Lower Secondary school in West Sussex. Tamsin is very much looking forward to the challenge of Underley Hall and is looking in her first year to raise the schools positive profile with referring authorities by securing excellent practice, provision and outcomes for our young people. In the longer term Tamsin would like to see Underley Hall flourish as a preferred provider that offers young people with complex needs and the teams around them a unique package of therapeutic and transitional services that compliment their care and education, enabling them to positively contribute to society as young adults.

The transformation of the Cunningham building at Acorn Park School is almost complete! The remodelling and decoration is well underway and we are in the process of ordering new furniture for each of the classrooms. The building will be renamed ‘Grandin’ and the new facilities include a range of classrooms designed and furnished to a high specification, with a focus on being ‘autism friendly’. There is also a tuck shop/café, a food technology room, and a Support for Learning Therapy room.
