Doug Sharp – Schools Director
Doug has been professionally involved in education for 36 years. He worked in secondary education for 16 years where he led several curriculum development initiatives locally and nationally, particularly in the area of learning and teaching. For 18 Years, Doug worked in school improvement in Solihull LA. His work in leadership and management led him to supporting special schools within the Local Authority. His ability to work alongside and develop teaching and non-teaching staff and senior leaders has been effective in leading special schools out of difficulties into models of good practice. He is also a trained OfSTED inspector. In 2004, Doug was appointed Principal Adviser, leading and managing an advisory service with responsibility for standards, inclusion and access, learning and teaching, leadership and management and professional development of teaching and non-teaching staff. From 2005 until joining Acorn in 2006, Doug was the Acting Service Director for school improvement in Solihull’s Education and Children’s Services Directorate.
Doug heads up the Schools Team of advisers and consultants and line manages our headteachers. His specific responsibility is to ensure the children and young people achieve quality outcomes in high performing schools.
