Hall Carr Farm and Belmont School Get Sporty!

2012 is the year of Sport for Great Britain and here at Belmont and Hall Carr Farm’s  we couldn’t wait to be a part of it.

Sport’s Relief has been a huge part of our calendar this year and everyone has been getting involved and what the boy’s did to contribute to the event.

23rd March: Sporty non-uniform day and sold Sport’s Relief wristbands as well as having activities throughout the day.  Pupils were shown the amazing kinds of projects and young people they would be helping and our lads soon threw themselves into it !!

25th March:  The staff and young people from our children's’ homes, Hall Carr Farm’s took part in a sponsored run to raise more funds.  Some ran 1 mile (myself and the manager, as we’re not the fittest), whilst the others ran a terrific 3 miles!  Even those who didn’t run showed true support to our runners and for others running from the local community.  Our very own Reece from Hall Carr Farm’s came first in the 1 mile run out of over 40 people which was Amazing result ! Well done Reece !!

29th April:  One of the staff, Paula, swam 1 mile (64 lengths) to raise further funds and was astounded by the generosity and support of staff, pupils, parents and carers.  She also discovered that she is much better at swimming than she is at running !

June 17thonce in a lifetime event was about to bestow itself upon us, the passing of the Olympic flame through our very own town of Rawtenstall in Rossendale !

It was fantastic to see our young people out in the local community and being a genuine part of the massive Olympic hype, chatting to locals and even giving out “high fives” to members of the official Olympic torch relay team, a truly memorable experience for our young people to contribute and participate in community events and activities

There's still so much more to come...We are on a countdown to London 2012 and couldn’t be more excited.

We have much more planned… a Sports Day, Swimming Gala, Olympics Party at Hall Carr Farm’s and even an entire week of dedicated cross-curricular Olympic activities for all our young people.

We’re only devastated we couldn’t get tickets for the main Olympic events !!!!
